Northwood.
Days
Out with the dated and welcoming Eastern style to this luxurious four-bedroom home in Northwood. Our new-build transformed a suburban house into an opulent retreat, using smart design, layers of colour and texture to craft a captivating and unique home.
After viewing our previous building and renovation work, the owners of this home chose the family building company SBR Group as their Northwood builder.
This new-build was no easy feat for our team. Only one room of the original house was to remain, and the 50-metre battleaxe sloping block with a 20-metre drop meant access was difficult. With meticulous planning, the SBR team were able to find creative solutions for the complexities of this site – access for the many trades, storage of materials and equipment, project planning for cranes and pouring of concrete footings – to achieve the owner’s vision.
Just like the site, there was nothing ordinary about this Northwood build. SBR Group called upon their large team of trades with the right skills for the unique, non-standard inclusions. These specially chosen fixtures – suspended deck over the rock face, drop ceiling, an intricately carved antique front door, bathroom tiles and wallpaper, right down to the customised moody blue paint in the kitchen – were meticulously installed.
One of the standout features of this Northwood build is the Corten metal panels. This architectural product added design interest to the large glass sliding doors accessing the oversized deck with sweeping views of the city. SBR Group sourced and installed the Corten feature – it is a fantastic product to watch it transform from its original black state to develop the rusty orange hues with the first rain.
